We are all people of habit. We engage in habitual things. For some, it is excessive smoking. For others, it is gluttony. Apart from the bad habits, human beings engage in certain habits that produce a degree of certainty in the results even if those habits may not be good for us.
Similarly, we want to achieve better results but do away with anything that is new and different. Therefore, we revert back to what is safe and comfortable in our comfort zone.
The fact of the matter is change is the only constant. To grow and evolve both personally and professionally in your network marketing business, you must make change and step out from your comfort zone.
Take for example this. If you are comfortable with the things you do, then you are simply doing what you have already been doing which will produce the same results as before. If you continue to play video games during the weekend when you should be working on your online network marketing business, you will become a better video game player and NOT a good network marketer. If you are willing to do things that you are not accustomed to such as attending network marketing meetings, writing e-mails, blogging, article marketing, then you will create new results.
What is the take home message here? If something is not comfortable to you, it is probably the right thing you should be doing to achieve greater success in business. So make it a point to get accustomed to something that is new and uncomfortable to you. If you have ever heard of the book Who Moved My Cheese?, it is about stepping away from your comfort zone and embracing change. I highly recommend you read this book as a personal development vehicle as you pursue a career in network marketing.
Perhaps you have heard of the definition of insanity. It is “doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Consider the definition of futility. It refers to “knowing the definition of insanity, and still doing nothing about it.”
A friend of mine from my college days approached me with his network marketing business and was having no success with it online. When he approached me, I asked him what he did with his time. He mentioned that he goes “out shopping, surfs the internet, and plays video games.” Nothing in his answers suggested that he was doing anything to market his business.
I suggested to him, “why do you not trying writing articles for e-zines since that is what I do to get high quality leads for my online business?” Then he went on to say that writing is too difficult, time consuming, and a waste of time.
The point I am trying to make is that if you do not make changes to your lifestyle now, nothing will ever change.
